As much as I love my life and my home, it was really great to get away for a couple days this past weekend! I’ve been feeling the itch to get out on the open road and go explore somewhere new for a while now and I got the opportunity to do just that. One of the things I really want to do with these little jaunts off to somewhere new is to document my experiences. I want to go to some of the local spots and interview people about what life is like there and then compile the video as well as write up a general summary with my overall impressions.
This past weekend was sort of a trial run for that. I got to test out some of my camera equipment, discover what worked and what didn’t work, and, of course, get out of town for a couple days. Due to the nature of why I was making this little journey, I didn’t have the opportunity or time to interview anyone or go exploring about much. I didn’t manage to get any video outside of the time I spent inside the truck, but it was still quite valuable as far as a learning experience goes.
Now that I’ve had the opportunity to do a test run of sorts, I can’t wait until I have another chance to go somewhere new. Next time, I’d love to try to go visit someone that’s been reading my blog, meet them in person, and see what their life is like for a couple days. I write a lot about myself and share it with whoever deems it worthy of taking the time to read, but aside from the people that I already know, I know almost nothing about the other people who read what I have to say.
I think it would be a particularly interesting experience to have someone that I share so much of my own life and inner thoughts with, share a bit of theirs with me! Plus, I really just enjoy going and seeing new places and if I can arrange a place to stay and have a local tour guide of sorts, all the better! I’m not entirely sure how to go about making that happen other than just tossing the idea out there and seeing if anyone volunteers, but it will likely be a while before I’m able to get away for a couple days again so there’s no rush.
In just a few short months, the weather will warm back up and being able to use the motorcycle as my means of transportation will greatly increase the opportunities for travel, and decrease the cost involved. Between the gas in my truck, paying to board the boys at the kennel, and missing out on a weekend (which is often when most people who have to work during the week come for tattoos), travelling can be a bit pricey.
Getting to satisfy a bit of my deep desire to travel within the first week of 2018 after having a great week of tattooing was an amazing way to kick off the year! Now I get to buckle down and focus on taking care of what I need to do here for a little while and managing the day to day needs of running a business, raising a kid, and supporting my lifestyle. I do feel like this might be a bit easier to manage now that I’ve scratched the nomadic itch just a bit for the time being. But speaking of buckling down and handling day to day life here, I’m going to call it a night and get to bed. It was an amazing, but somewhat tiring weekend and I’ve gotta get Kayla up and off to school in the morning. Thanks for reading and sorry for leaving you without my random ramblings to read for a couple days!
