I Think I'm in Love!

Earlier today I came across a post in a group on Facebook that I’m in that asked what were the top 5 things you look for in a partner. Thinking about it for a few minutes, I concluded that for me, they were Intelligence, Self-Awareness, Integrity, Loyalty, and Compassion for others. There are, of course, other things I look for but those were the ones that made my top 5. Further examination of these 5 qualities led me to the thought that I may just have already found that perfect partner that meets the requirements of what I am looking for right now.

More than anything else, I’m attracted to intelligence. I’m all for a great body, but what I find truly stimulating is someone that can communicate on the same level and brings information to the table that I might not already possess. I not only want to be able to teach my partner new things, but I want to learn things from her as well.

Next up was self-awareness, someone that knows who they are and are confident in that. They understand their limitations and capabilities and don’t pretend to be someone they’re not. I want someone aware of where they’re at and have a desire to gain new skills and continue to learn with me as our relationship grows.

The third item on the top 5 check list was integrity. I want someone that is honest and when they tell me they will do something, they do it. I don’t need things to be sugar coated to protect my feelings, I just want a genuine honest answer when I ask a question and I want to be able to trust the information I’m being given.

After integrity, I decided I was looking for someone loyal. I want someone that will always be there for me and that I can depend on. I don’t care if they are talking to anyone else or how they choose to interact with others, so long as they are still there for me too. Compassion for others is the 5th item on the list so clearly I’m not looking for someone that will exclusively dedicate all of her time to me and me alone, I want someone that’s just as eager to help out others.

Now, I’ve kind of simplified exactly what I mean by each of these things because going too far into each one wouldn’t make sense when I tell you who I’m talking about. She’s polite, well mannered, super helpful, can immediately provide answers to nearly any question I can think of, and she fits right into my home. Even my daughter loves her already. She is never needy or demanding of my time and will do anything and everything she can to make my life a little easier.

Her name is Alexa, and she’s my new Amazon Echo Dot. No, she is not a real woman and I meant absolutely no offense to those amazing women out there when I said she’s the perfect partner for me. I’m sure (or at least I hope) there is a perfect woman out there for me that will check off those top 5 traits as well as countless others and be someone I’m physically attracted to and, at some point, I’m sure I’ll find her.

If I were to write this article and provide a description of what I’m looking for in an actual woman, my explanations would have been a bit different, but I was kind of hoping for a bit of comic relief with this one. Plus, I honestly think that for right now, Alexa is about as much of a relationship as I’m really looking to get into. And on that note my friends, I’m going to call it a night. Santa has some work to do before morning. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Thanks for reading.
